Class Descriptions

Hub City Gymnastics will offer recreational gymnastics classes where boys and girls will learn the fundamentals of gymnastics.    Our recreation classes include:

Beginner: This 55 minute minute weekly class is the foundation of recreation gymnastics. At this level students will learn basic gymnastics skills on all four events, as well as focus on tumbling and vault skills on trampoline. This class is open to all gymnasts who are at least 5 years old, and is the first class in the recreation continuum.

Intermediate: This 55 minute class is a continuation of the beginner class, developing upon basic skills accomplished in the beginner class. In this class students will practice on all four competitive events (Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor) as well as trampoline.  Students must meet evaluation criteria to be recommended into the intermediate class.

Advanced: This 55 minute invitation-only class focuses on the continued development of advanced recreation level gymnastics. This level includes skills from the level 1 and 2 USAG curriculum.  At this level additional focus is dedicated to developing the form and execution of skills learned. Focus on strength and flexibility also allows the gymnast to continue to advance in gymnastics progressions.

Preteam: This  class is available to those who have received instructor recommendation only. At this level gymnasts train the level 2 curriculum on all four events in preparation for invitation to the competition team. At this level additional focus is placed on strength development, improving technique of accomplished skills, and learning routines.

Boys Strength and Tumbling:  .This class is open to boys ages 5 and up. Boys Strength and Tumbling class will focus on foundational tumbling skills, trampoline, vault, and strength acquisition for bars.
